Massage Techniques Utilized @ Integrative Healing
Esalen® Massage was developed in Germany by Charlotte Selver
during the 1960s. Described by the Esalen Massage & Bodywork Association,
as “Long...strokes with gentle rocking and stretching, passive joint movement
...and the precision of Chinese point work are all part of the somatic
offering.” Each session is designed to work with the individual need to
promote stress reduction, health, and inner awareness.
Swedish Massage was developed by Swedish professor, Peter
Ling, in the 18th century & involves firm manipulation of the body’s
soft tissues. The pressure and stretching actions are designed to “cleanse
the muscles & tissues of acids and deposits, break up fibrous tissue,
& loosen stiff joints.”
Neuromuscular Therapy (Deep Tissue Work) is the utilization
of static pressure on specific points (trigger points) on the body to
relieve pain. This technique manipulates the soft tissue of the body (muscles,
tendons and connective tissue) to balance the central nervous system.
Sports Massage is designed specifically for the sports enthusiast
to help repair and protect muscles from the wear and tear that occurs
during exercise by helping improve blood & lymph circulation, muscle
mobility, and relaxation.
Process Acupressure was developed by Aminah Raheem, PHD,
and is based on the combination of pressure points and charkra & meridian
systems to promote inner awareness, health, energy and balance.
Hot Stone Massage (pictured above) is an ancient tradition
that combines heat therapy with mother earth. Heated stones are placed
on Charkra & Meridian points to bring pain relief and deep relaxation.
Raindrop Therapy--NEW! Developed by Dr. Gary Young,
Raindrop therapy combines aromatherapy, reflexology and VitaFlex massage--a
type of hand-rolling that works more than 1500 points on the body to increase
health and the body's natural healing powers.
Thai Massage--NEW! Known as "Ancient Massage," Thai massage owes
its origin to Buddha and involves work with the meridian lines of the body
in conjunction with yoga-like stretching within a meditative atmosphere.
It is designed to bring the body back into harmonic balance, energize,
and reduce blocks that create poor health.
